Accommodation & Transport

Since 2020, public transport is free of charge throughout the entire country, including buses, trains and the new tram. The only exception are tickets and subscriptions for the 1st class. The venue of the LAG 2020 seminar lies within walking distance to the train station “Belval-Université, Gare” that is connected to the main station in Luxembourg City by train every 15-20 minutes (duration of the trip: 30- 35 minutes). Buses from Luxembourg Kirchberg (where the majority of the recommended hotels are located) and from Luxembourg Airport run regularly to the main station. Airport

Luxembourg airport offers direct flights to a multitude of European cities. It is located in Luxembourg-Findel, 20 minutes from hotels in Luxembourg-Kirchberg (e.g. via the bus line 16 and the tram). You can plan your trip with public transport here.

Country information

The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg is a small country in Western Europe with borders to Belgium in the west and the north, to Germany in the east and to France in the south. The capital of Luxembourg, Luxembourg City has along with Strasbourg and Brussels an outstanding meaning for the European Union since some of European institutions are located in Luxembourg City, thus the highest judicial authority in the EU, the European Court of Justice. Due to its strong economic situation and the fact of being situated in the heart of Europe between France, Germany and Belgium, Luxembourg is a very multicultural country. In addition to the national language Luxembourgish, French and German are also official languages.
